We have on hand a number of refurbished file servers ideal for a small, quiet office. They don't take up much room and they don't make a lot of noise or generate a lot of heat, but they are slippery quick. Your choice of brand new 500G, 1T, or 1.5T SATA hard drives, mirrored for data security with optional external drives for offsite/onsite backups.
These file servers run using the reliable linux operating system using the Australian made, world class, Samba file server software to connect your windows work machines and printers to.
As well as serving files, it has more than enough capacity to handle email and intranet/internet websites
Basic configuration with 500G dual drives is just $999 installed, set up, and maintained for six months. At the end of the six months simply pay for the administration time you need. One hour administration per month is enough to keep everything ticking over smoothly and keep software updated to the latest security release. Every 6 months, a longer administration period is recommended to upgrade the linux file server to the latest release.
Due to prices continually dropping, please make enquiries regarding higher capacity drives and offsite/onsite backup options. We would recommend at least one external drive for onsite backups, ideally two drives so you can take one drive home with you for offsite storage.
The onsite external drive will backup your data every night, so if you accidently delete a file, you can quickly restore the previous days version. At the end of the week, take that drive home with you and plug in the second external drive to the linux file server. Now you have a copy of all your files at home in case of a robbery or fire in your office. At the end of the second week, swap drives again.
